What is Hybrid Series Ireland?

Hybrid Series Ireland (HSI) is Ireland’s leading platform for Hyrox simulation events. A Hyrox simulation consists of athletes competing in a professionally chipped timed full Hyrox race format competition.

What is Hyrox?

Hyrox is a global fitness race that combines running and functional fitness workouts. Participants race through a course that involves 8 different workout stations, including running intervals, rowing, skiing, sled pushing, and more. It’s designed to challenge your endurance, strength, and mental toughness.

Where do HSI events take place?

HSI operates predominantly from TUS Midlands Indoor Sports Arena in Athlone, Ireland.

Who can participate in the event?

The event is open to athletes of all skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a first-timer, you can participate in the event. There are different categories, including individual, doubles (teams of 2) and relays (teams of 4), ensuring that everyone can compete.

Is there an age limit to compete?

Participants must be 16 years of age to compete. There is no upper age limit.

Do I need to qualify to enter the event?

No, you do not need to qualify to enter. The Hybrid Series Ireland Hyrox event is open to all participants. It is recommended that you prepare in advance as the event involves high levels of fitness and stamina.

What are the categories for the event?

Participants can compete in the following categories:

  • Individual: You complete the Hyrox race format by yourself
  • Doubles: You complete the Hyrox race format in a team of 2
  • Relay: Your complete the Hyrox race format in a team of 4

Participants can compete in the following categories:

What are the event's race details?

Distance: The race consists of 8 kilometers (8K) of running and 8 workout stations.

Stations: The 8 stations are as follows:

  1. Skierg 
  2. Sled Push
  3. Sled Pull
  4. Burpees
  5. Rowing
  6. Farmer’s Carry 
  7. Lunges 
  8. Wall Balls
How long is the running track in TUS Sports Arena in Athlone?

The indoor track is 200m. That means 5 laps of the track is equal to the 1000m run that’s required for each run.

What are the weights for the women’s category?

Sled Push - 102kg 

Sled Pull - 78kg 

Farmer’s Carry - 2x16kg kettlebells 

Lunges - 10kg sandbag

Wall balls - 4kg

What are the weights for the men’s category?

Sled Push - 152kg 

Sled Pull - 103kg 

Farmer’s Carry - 2x24kg kettlebells 

Lunges - 20kg sandbag

Wall balls - 6kg

What are the weights for the mixed doubles category?

Sled Push - 152kg 

Sled Pull - 103kg

What are the weights for the mixed relay category?

If the female relay member is completing the station, she follows the standard for the women’s weights: 

Sled Push - 102kg 

Sled Pull - 78kg 

Farmer’s Carry - 2x16kg kettlebells 

Lunges - 10kg sandbag

Wall balls - 4kg 


If the male relay member is completing the station, he follows the standard for the men’s weights:

Sled Push - 152kg

Is there a hydration / water station at the event?

There will be a designated hydration station in the station area. You will place your own hydration / fuel / gels here. Water will not be provided by HSI.

Is there a time limit to complete the race?

There is no time cut off or limit for completing the entire event. Completion of the race typically ranges from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on your fitness level.

How do I register for the event?

You can register for the event by clicking ‘register now’ on this website homepage. Make sure to register early, as spots may fill up quickly.

Can I switch categories after registering?

It may be possible to switch categories before the event, but this depends on availability and timing. Contact us with exact change details as soon as possible if you need to make a change.

What is the cost of participation?

The cost varies depending on the category and the type of registration. You can find the exact pricing details on the official registration page when you sign up.

What will I receive upon registration on race day?

You will receive your athlete board, a HSI patch and a goodie bag containing samples from our sponsors.

What do I need to bring with me on race day to register?

You will need your QR registration code.

What happens if I miss my allocated start time?

You cannot race if you do not arrive at the start line at your allocated time. The start times are meticulously planned in advance to ensure no congestion takes place at the stations.

How soon before my race start time do I need to arrive to register?

We recommend arriving 60 minutes before your start time to ensure you have enough time to register and warm up.

Is there a warm up area?

Yes. The designated warm up area will include small amounts of Hyrox equipment - ski erg, row erg, sleds, sandbags, kettlebells and wall balls.

Do I need to bring my own gear?

Yes, you should bring the following gear:

  • Comfortable running shoes
  • Athletic clothing suitable for intense exercise
  • Water bottle (you can leave this at the designated water station table)
  • Towel (optional, but useful for wiping off sweat)

All workout equipment is provided at the event.

Are there prizes?

Athletes who finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their division will receive a flag and prizes from our event day sponsors - Revive Active and Perform Nutrition.

What are the prize categories?

What happens if I can’t make it to the event after registering?

If you can’t attend, refunds are not available. You can transfer your registration to another person or event date if necessary, as long as you notify us in advance with all the change details.

Is there any on-site parking available?

Yes, there is parking available at the venue. However, it may be limited, so we recommend arriving early to secure a parking spot.

Are there spectators allowed?

Yes, spectators are welcome to cheer on participants. There will be designated areas where friends and family can watch the action unfold.

Where can I buy a spectator ticket?

Spectator tickets can be purchased at the door on the day for €10. Children under 16 are free.

How is the race timed?

The event is timed using a professional timing system. Results will be available immediately after the race and can also be accessed online. Each athlete will receive a timing chip on the day when they register.

Is there food or drinks available at the venue?

There will be food and drink available in the Campus canteen, which is located across from the sports arena. Hot food, coffee and snacks are all available.

How can I stay updated on the event?

Can I volunteer at the event?

Yes, volunteers are welcome! If you’re interested in volunteering, send us a message through the contact us page on this website.

What happens if I miscount my runs and only run 4 laps instead of 5?

You will receive a 5 minute penalty for not completing all 5 laps. These 5 minutes will automatically be added to your finish time and will be listed on your result sheet.
